I have an Airport Extreme base station hooked up and I've found it strange the lights are always blinking. The left and right LED's blink a lot even when my machines are shut down and there is no apparent "actual" network activity. I've tried resetting my base station to factory defaults, turning off remote config and snmp access, and the lights still blink like wild. Is this normal or something to be concerned about?

I installed the AirPort update tonight and updated my firmware on the base station and it still does it. Does it sound like I have a wiring issue causing the wierd activity?

Just about every wireless access point shows wireless activity (that's the left light), and attempts at wired/modem activity (the right light) with everything shut down. This is normal.

Here's a knowledge base article on what the lights mean.

Mine does the same thing, but its an old snow base. Your ISP and such continually talk back and forth it it will show activity even when youre not working it. On the other hand if youre living in an apartment maybe your neighbor is enjoying free internet service.
