I just purchased an Apple 12" PowerBook with Airport card installed and an external Airport Extreme Base Station.
I already have an iMac (ethernet) and a Compaq (ethernet) computer and they are already hooked up to my DSL Fujitsu Modem which is then hooked up to my DLink Dl-614+ Wireless Router.
I'd like to be able to print from my iMac and my PowerBook and my Compaq all to the same Hewlett Packard 1220c printer and be able to take advantage of the faster Extreme Base Station. Anyone have any ideas? I've done numerous searches....and numerous resets and Airport Admin utility changes...and I can't figure it out.
Please help. Thank you

Assuming that your DLink router is providing IP addresses for everyone (acting as a DHCP server). If the DLink has an ethernet port than you can plug in the airport to the DLink and configure the Airport to act as a bridge - you'll specifically want to turn off the router capability of the Airport.
If your DLink does not have an ethernet port (an extra one), then you'll need to go out and purchase a router with DHCP and NAT and turn off the routing capabilities of your DLink router. Simply connect both wireless access points to the new router and have the new router serve IP addresses to every client that connects via the wireless access points.

I'm ready and willing to give that a try. How do I turn off the router capability of the Airport?
Thank you.

This belongs in the Networking forum, not PowerBook, since this is not a PowerBook question.

Describe more clearly how these computers are connected. Are they connected to the modem or the router? The DLink is wireless, but you have everything plugged in via ethernet?
Another approach would be to switch it all around like this:
cable modem >> AEBS WAN >> AEBS LAN >> DLink LAN (uplink) >> other DLink LAN ports to wired comps and printer
Then go to the router's config page and disable DHCP serving. This will let the AEBS distribute IPs to all the devices and keep it all on the same sub.
You could also disable (if possible) the wireless side of the DLink, since it won't be used. If it can't be disabled, make sure you still password protect and MAC address filter it.

I'm very thankful that this post was switched here! I did have it in the PowerBook form, since I'm so used to going there.
I'm going to try your configuation to see if it works.
I'll be back shortly with an update.

I'm up and running on the internet with my PowerBook, and my Compaq desktop, but not my iMac yet. Also, I cannot print to the HP1220c yet. I see it in Rendevous, but cannot print to it.
Help.

How is the iMac connecting? Wireless (Airport) or ethernet cable? Go to System Prefs > Network, on the iMac. Select which ever connection you have from the Show list. Then choose DHCP from the Configure list. Leave the rest blank. Hit Apply Now. That should do it.
How do you now have the other devices set up? What happens when you try to print? What is going on in Print Center? Is the printer in your printer list?
