So this summer and next school year I'll be living off campus and have to supply my own connection to the net. This is what I get from the TW web site:

  • State-of-the-Art Cable Modem
  • Free Personal Web Site (Up to 5 MB)
  • Local & National Content at your fingertips

Residential Pricing (monthly):
Includes 8 email addresses:
Monthly Residential Rate - (modem rental included) $44.95

Up to 4 additional IP Addresses sharing a single modem $14.95/ea
The additioinal IP thing throws me off. At my house we have one IP and a router, and everything works fine. Will TW know if all of us are online simultaneously via a router, and if so, what can they do?

Thanks,
Chris

They can't tell. It may violate the user agreement, but I've never even heard of that being enforced. Just get a router.

No, they cant tell. Its their way of trying to extort more $$ out of you. You do need to make sure your network is set up properly though. What you want is the router getting one IP address for itself from TW and then the router assigning different IP addresses for the computers or base station. You do not want to have TW assign different IP's for each computer. If youre going to go wireless then the base stations already are configured to get a single IP address from the ISP and then set up a different network that shares this same IP address.
