I have an older iMac and an eMac connected to DSL via a year-old Airport unit (snow?).
Software update lists new/updated airport software .... 3.0.4 I believe?
I've heard this update is required only by those with the newer Airport Extreme unit. Is this true? Should I avoid downloading / installing this update? Why or why not?
In a vaguely related question: If I don't want a particular update (ie iPod update ... I don't own one) how can I remove it from the software update prompt screen without downloading it?
Much thanks in advance.

Dunno, sorry.

Pull down the Update menu and select Make Inactive.

AirPort Extreme Base Station Firmware 5.0.4 is an upgrade for the AirPort Extreme Base Station. This firmware revision is not for use with the original (Graphite) or the dual-Ethernet (Snow) base stations.

There's a way to check updates you don't want so that they won't appear again. My extremely precise advice to you is to fiddle with it.

Your precision advice was sound. The fiddley thing was found. The deed was done, the update shunned, a good day all around!
Thanks guys.
