I noticed recently that there was a new Airport update on SW update, so I installed it. After the restart, I apparently lost my ability to be on my network without first entering a password. I can choose the Network, but then it asks for my password in a drop down that has 'password', '40 bit', '128 bit', etc. When I set up my security, I used something that I had to enter a hex key with a $ in front of it. Is that what I am supposed to enter for my PW to get back into my network?

I thought, OK, I will just reconfigure my network, but when I try to get to it using dial up, I fail (maybe that should be obvious, but I don't get it).

Should I maybe just reset the router and start from scratch?

Thank you.

I have a Netgear MR814 with an Airport card in a G4 867 single....

I am having a very similar problem.

And it sucks.

It is driving me crazy.

I am surprised more people are not having this probrem.

Ok, I feel bette now that I got that off my chest.

I can not recconnect, reset my passwords in both my iBook and router many times.

Hope this happens to someone smart so they can help us.

Have either of you tried to install the earlier version of the software? Sometimes that gets you back to the starting point at least.

Installing an earlier version is a great idea - but unfortunately I don't know how to do it. I don't know how to rid my machine of the newer drek.

Currently I reset my router and I am now using an unsecured wireless network that I have to keep switching off because I am concerned about people 'hopping on'.
