Guys, I need help. Whenever I try to connect to an iTunes 4 broadcast (not a radio but a shared playlist), the playlist pops up for just a second and then dissapears. This is behind a USR 8000 router. I'm pretty sure that the router is the cause of my grief, but I find that the web-based config software is so poorly designed that I can't even properly open the necessary port... Anyone have any experience with this? (Oh, and I obviously RTFM but it ain't exactly the most user-friendly thing I've ever read). Thankelydoodles!

I agree with you on the USR 8000's manual and configuration pages! Wow, what a kluge! (For those of you who don't know it, kluge is a dirty word, meaning a cruddy product stuck together on the quick and cheap-spit, gum and bailing wire are implied.) What's worse is that USR's support site just mirors the manual! BAD manufacturer! No repeat business! Bad!

There is a port filters page in my 8000's setup, but I use mine as a subordinate router and print server, so I haven't messed with it. Have you found that page and played with it?

Yeah, it's called 'special applications' but the problem is that even if I set my machine as the DMZ host, the same thing as described above happens.... frustrating!

Have you tried giving your computer a static IP on your network? Also, are you experiencing this problem through your LAN or through the Internet? If iTunes uses port 80, your ISP may be blocking or interrupting it to prevent you from hosting a web site and dragging down everybody else's speed and bandwidth.

There's been a thread I read recently about changing the port Personal Web Server and/or iTunes use via Terminal-if it turns out to be your ISP blocking port 80, there may be a way around it.
