Is it better to have 1 computer with a generic wireless card and 1 to have the apple airport card

or

both to have apple airport card?

Honestly it doesn't really matter. The are really only to manufacturers of 802.11b chipsets, so all cards are pretty much the same. The only difference is how good the antenna is on different cards.
15" Macbook Pro 1.83 2 GB RAM
Blackbook 13.3 Powerhouse 2 GB RAM
MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)

Really doesn't matter. The Apple ones fit nicely in the computer though.
