I have a G4 powerbook working flawlessly on a graphite base stattion. My mom wants to access the internet on her pc. I really have no idea where to start. Can I install a wireless card in the pc and access the airport network? Any help appreciated.....

It can be done with third Party 802.11b Wireless card. You'll have to find one that is compatible with the AirPort Base Station. There are several out there. You may have to turn off WEP protection for it to work.

Here a link where someone connected a windows Laptop:

It should be very easy (once the card is installed in the PC and the drivers are loaded!) to connect to the base station. You'll just set up the PC for DCHP and that should be it. As someone else said, you may want to turn off WEP if the PC has a clumsy interface for it...just to simplify life for her. But if the PC software can remember the password, you should probably leave WEP enabled.

well actualy the orinoco card for laptops works like a charm, you just put it in and you realy don't have to install anything if it is windows XP.

if it is a desktop then the orinoco pci card will be your best bet

I use both of these products the pci card only runs at 11 mbs but wep for both is not a problem you just get your encription key from your base stations main menu (once wep is enabled) and enable them on the cards software by entering the key on the security tab.

both will run you between 90 and 110 bucks check the sites for prices buy.com usualy has the best shipping options
