The world of PCI wireless cards confuses me a bit. I've never used any wireless yet so I don't know exactly how you configure it, but I'd like to put a card in my Server and shareinternet wirelessly with it. Is that easily possible with a machine that doesn't have airport capabilities built in? Would I have to use some 3rd party software to set up the card and share with it?

Think of a wireless card as another ethernet card- different MAC address and can be configured seperately from your builtin ethernet. Macs have always been mutihoming so they can deal with more than one ip address.

There are a few vendors selling cards and drivers to adapt non-wireless Macs to wireless. Depending on your machine, you can decide how you want the wireless card to interface with your Mac. PCMCIA cards are one way- USB is another.

It is doable.
