I think it may only be possible as a business solution. I searched for "bluetooth ethernet" on google and found a few sites. I was looking to see if there was a bluetooth transmitter that could be plugged into an ethernet jack. No such luck. I found some $600 transmitter that uses dialup (PPP) and a bunch of tech jargon that was out of my reach. I don't think anything like this is available yet because Wi-Fi is faster than Bluetooth. Maybe the next version of Bluetooth will have speed improvements to compete with Wi-Fi, but I haven't heard news of an update yet. It would be kinda nice to surf and connect all via bluetooth - wouldn't have to shell out money for an Airport card and base.

If you run into a solution, please let me know.

You need to set it as your modem. Can you see the phone in either the Network pane or Internet Connect? If so, it's just a matter of an init string...

Go to System Preferences > Network. Can you select your phone from the Show menu?

Go to the Bluetooth pane and see if you can enable it then look for it again in Network.

First some basic stuff. Are the two devices paired yet and can you sync the phone with your computer. If you can then you knoe the phone and computer are actually talking. If not we first need to figure out why the two devices arent communicating. Which PB do you have? No all Powerbooks have blue tooth built in, even though the system can run it, the hardware isnt there for the 15" and some 12" ers. IF things are communicating fine, then you need to connect the two devices, then go to the Network preferences pane and see if your phone shows up as a modem. Mine shows up as Samsung CDMA. So look for something like Nokia XXXX. Also depending on your service provider, you may have to go and download some modem scripts to beb able to go through their servers. Hope this helps.

I have helped many people on this forum get their Powerbooks onto the net via Bluetooth (and even GPRS), if you need some help, drop me a private message or chat to me on MSN (kanusami@hotmail.com).

If people continue to ask for my help, I will make a page dedicated to helping people get setup.

You can get some very good mobile phone modem scripts (which work over Bluetooth) at http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ - they are free.

What you will need:-
*A USB Bluetooth Adapter ($50) or Bluetooth Built-in
*Mac OS X (10.1 or later)
*A Modem Script (download from http://www.taniwha.org.uk/ for free)
*And finally your phone must support Bluetooth
