hi I got so many questions to ask hope you people out there don't mind
1. Icq, I can not get file or send file
I can not go to chat room
2. msn messager. I can not get file or send
could someone tell me what did I do wrong?
is it the firewall in apple?
if so how should I fix this
if not what do you suggest me to do
I am a totally new apple user
just got my apple 5 days ago
so please help >_<

Since you say you just got your computer, can we assume that it's new, and running some version of OS X? Yes, OS X comes with a firewall, but I don't recall whether it's on by default or what it blocks by default.

We need to know a lot about your setup before we can help. How are you connecting to the Internet-cable, DSL, dial-up? Who's your ISP, and where are you located (some ISPs do different things in different markets)? Do you use a router, or are you connected straight to a modem of some kind? Did you make ANY setting changes to your computer? Did you use a setup disc from your ISP-you may have received a customized browser or some sort of connection icon on the disc.

And finally, out of curiosity, what kind of Mac do you have? Are you a "switcher" (former PC user), or is this your first computer?

I got a powerbook 17 and I am a switcher
I know about pc and stuff
but anything to do with networking I don't have a clue sometime
yes I got OS X
and I just upgrade it to os x 10.2.6
I am using Adsl
ISP.. I don't know what is ISP
and how do I find out who is my ISP
but I am in taiwan now
I am using a switch
I got a disc for my adsl
but I didn't use it
I change some thing in the firewall section

forgot to tell you
when my girlfriend trying to send me a
chat room in icq but
it give her a error message
saying
cannot establish peer to peer connection

my adsl need to use PPPoE
don't know that those are
all i know is I need password and username
provide by my adsl company
