This is in all probability an extremely stupid question but I take it that traceroute works just fine when you're plugged into the net via ethernet/modem/etc?

Yeah it works fine if I use the adsl straight threw the computer, but doesn't work when I connect with my adsl threw the Airport Extreme.
tracert doesn't work for me either through my airport extreme base station. guess we gotta wait it out for another firmware update... I've been getting annoyed with all the bugs in the base station and yesterday I ordered a Linksys cable/dsl router wth a better firewall and hopefully I'll be able to do a simple traceroute with it.
