Hello everyone,
(Crossposting this one to Network and Peripherals)
I just got my new printer, a Lexmark T420D and I first plugged it directly in to my PowerBook, and installed the drivers. Everything worked SPLENDID.
The only thing I had to do was to go in to the configuration program that came with the driver set and click on the duplex function. I quickly begun to print pages with text on both sides.
However, since I need to share this printer with a couple of others (also sitting on the same network, and sharing the same Airport Extreme Base Station as I am) I reckoned that I would simply put it on the USB port on the AE base station and run it that way.
Plugged it in, reconfigurated my client, and printed a test document ; it worked.
Now I decided to try the duplex, so I clicked "print" on a semi large document on my desk and it printed. However, this time, without using the duplex function at all.
I decided to go in to the configuration program and check again, in case the configurations are a local one that works against the local printer driver.
Inside the administration program the printer was unable to be detected, since it wasn't directly attached to the machine.
Attaching it directly to the machine will immidietly cause me to be able to print using the duplex function as well as using the administration program.
The administration program is to me rather unimportant, so I don't consider that a problem. If I ever need to reconfigurate the printer I'll just connect my computer straight to it via the USB cable.
The fact that I can't print in duplex via the airport is however a disaster to me. And I need to have this, preferably, fixed or the others might seperate my head with my body.
Any ideas ? Have I missed anything ?
Hope that someone will know.
Regards
Johan
