Try as I might, I can't get my dad's Dell to connect to my new AE base station. Any help would be appreciated; I don't even know how to check the signal strength in windows.

We were having significant problems, until we used the software which came with the card - Belkin one for a Dell laptop, works great now.

It would be good if you could tell us which Dell your dad has, and which wireless card came with it. I have a Dell Inspiron 8200 that I added a Cisco 350 mini-PCI wireless card to, and I have no problem with it on my 802.11b wireless network. But you must be aware that there are differences bewteen the way Apple handles things (and names things) and how everyone else does these things. More info will let us translate and instruct.
