I’ve just purchased an Extreme Base Station and an Airport card for my iBook. I also own a Dell Windows XP laptop. I’m thinking of buying a wireless card for my Dell so that I can connect it wirelessly via the AEB to the internet. I’ve been looking at Netgear cards, in particular the 802.11b (model MA401) and 802.11g (model WG511) models. Does anyone know if either of these cards (and I’d prefer the 802.11g version) have any compatibility problems with the AEB?

I've got that exact setup (with the 802.11g card), and I've had no problems whatsoever.

While some people have reported problems with consistency with the AirPort Extreme base station, you should probably do fine. From what I hear of the current crop of mini-PCI cards Dell offers, they're quite solid and seem to work fine in a number of situations.

I know the airport extreme card will not fit in a Pismo but does anyone know if the Netgear or Buffalo PC Cards will provide this fuctionality on a Pismo? I've recently gotten DSL at home and I'd rather set up a wireless network there than run cables all over the house.

If it's just for DSL, plain Airport (which does fit in your Pismo) exceeds the speed required by the internet connection.

Thanks...this is my first foray into wireless, it's very confusing, didn't want to buy the wrong gear.
