I've got a 17" iMac running the latest Mac OS X (w/ Airport Extreme card), a laptop running Windows 98 (with NetGear 802.11g card), and an AEBS connecting them. How do I share files between them? Does Win98 have Samba?

Thanks!

Samba is a tool for sharing files with Windows systems.

In order to share files, you'll first have to set some drive or folder on the Win98 machine as "shared" and give it some share name. Once you do that, (and restart the Win98 machine) your iMac may even be able to see it in Finder already. Otherwise you'll need to use Samba to see it.

Ummm, how about using Finder? You can also browse the network by clicking the network icon in Finder-that lets you browse the network as if it were a drive.

For future reference, Mac help is fantastic! It's sometimes overwhelming in how much useful, straightforward information it gives you. Also, you can check the AppleCare Support Knowledge Base for lots more help.

Welcome to Apple-land! I'm sure you're glad you switched.
