Can anyone tell me how to apply the 5.01 firmware update for the Netgear MR814v2 using Mac OS X?
I have downloaded the file, which appears as "mr814_firmware_v2_501.img" on my desktop. However, running in OS X if I double-click on it Disk Copy tries to mount it but fails with an "error 95 (no mountable file systems)". If I just try to upload it as a .img file from the router UI it indicates the file is not the right type.
I have trashed and downloaded multiple copies of this firmware and none have been successful.
Booted into OS 9 and tried Disk Copy there to no avail.
Downloaded and tried ImageMounter under OS X to no avail.

Check page 7-5 in the manual for instructions. Basically you go to the setup and configuration page in the router with your browser, then navigate to the downloaded file through the browser.

Yes, I have no problem with how to upload the file to the router. As I said, if I just try to upload it as a .img file from the router UI it indicates the file is not the right type.

From the manual:
{If the upgrade file is compressed (.ZIP file), you must first extract the binary (.BIN) file before sending it to the router. The upgrade file can be sent to the router using your browser.}
{In the Router Upgrade menu, click the Browse button and browse to the location of the binary (.BIN) upgrade}
I have a .img file from Netgear. So far, I can't get that file to mount under OS X or OS 9. Thus, I don't have a .bin file to upload. Trying to upload the .img file results in an incorrect file warning from the router UI.

Try using StuffIt, which has a free version that decompresses files, ".zip" files among others. You can also find a bunch of Mac OS compression utilities that understand ".zip" files here.
I had thought you were having trouble from following the instructions on the Netgear firmware upgrade page. Sorry for the mixup.

Tried Expander. it reports that the .img file doesn't seem to be compressed. I tell it to try anyway, but it accomplishes nothing.

Finally got it to take. I just kept downloading the file from Netgear and trying again, which makes me wonder of the earlier files were corrupted. In any event, router has been successfuly updated.
