I hope someone can answer this for me. Here is the scenerio to make the question as simple as possible. I am completely clueless about networking.

I have 2 employees that want to communicate via video using ichat av. Both employees are telecommuting from home. They are both using mac osx. They both have broadband internet. Is there a way to "log" those employees into the corp . server (preferably through a web browser) so that Redezvous will see them as being on the network? We do not want to assign AIM id's to employees.

Also, if this is possible...is this video connection going to actually use our corp. servers bandwidth?

Thanks
Mark

I'm not sure if it can be done this way, but here's my idea:

Build A VPN bridge between the company and users. The VPN connection should work just as if the clients were connected to the company LAN. Traffic moves in a secure tunnel through the Internet. I'm not sure if Rendezvous spans over VPN, though.

The VPN connection can be done by separate VPN-boxes or by software. I'm not sure about how Jaguar handles VPN. I don't think it supports it out of the box, maybe with some Opensource stuff you could get it to work. Panther, however, is supposed to have VPN out of the box.

From ZDNET Panther preview:

"OS X 10.3 will add lots of support for Windows file sharing, networking, printing and even a new IPsec-based VPN that will make it easier for Mac users to remotely connect to their office networks. The most important Panther changes Jobs demonstrated, though, lie in the interface."

Does anyone know if Rendezvous works over VPN?
