Hi all, not sure if this is the right place, but here goes.

I need some help finding an ISP to get me fast internet. I live in Sacramento, in an appartement complex. Unfortunatly they have some crappy deal with this cable service, so I can't get cable internet. We are 18,300 feet from a CO, so we can't get DSL. Satellite is also not an option, as the dish doesn't get a clear shot to the sky (damn other building)

Am I SOL? Is there such a thing as wireless internet on a largescale? Meaning can I get wireless net from an ISP? I heard I can get iDSL, but it is only 128k/sec and is $85/month. I am hoping there is something out there...

Look for a Wireless DSL Internet provider. We use wireweb.net here. I have an antenna on my house that connects me wirelessly from my home to wireless DSL. It is very fast. There is no phone co. or cable modem available here, so the wireless DSL has been a very good solution. You might try www.dslreports.com to find you a provider in your area. Good luck.

I would be very surprised if there wasn't a huge, competitive market for wireless DSL in your area. This sort of system is comparable to satellite DSL, except that the uplink rate is faster, and there's less latentcy (between uplink request and downlink reply). It's also more flexible in where the antenna can go, and since the antenna is usually fairly small, it's more esthetically pleasing too (a real boost to the style concious).
