Hi,

I have a PowerBook 2400c. It has two PCMCIA card slots. I have an extra Airport card and I can hook an external antennae, the question is can this work on my 2400? I'm running 8.0 but will be switching to 9.1 soon. Do I need a third party software to make it work? thanks.

In general, though an AirPort card looks like a PCMCIA card, it will not work in a PCMCIA card slot. You will probably need a third party card, such as the Orinoco Gold wirless card. You'll probably need to run at least OS 9, as well.

They claim to have a software driver and support for many cards.

Orinoco has discontinued manufacture of both their silver and gold cards. Their new ones do NOT work on old Macs.

Their old cards that DO work have the part numbers
848441556 and 848441481. These work with Apple Airport software 2.0.4 as well. sam

You can sometimes find the older Orinoco cards on eBay, so keep those part numbers handy!
