A wall mount was provided with the AEBS.

Does it matter if it sits flat on a desk? My desk is upstairs and I use my PB downstairs.

I know I could check this out myself, and I will if no one else has tried. Then I will post findings assuming others may be interested.

Also, I purchased the AEBS with modem and antenna port. I have heard the external antennas do little if anything. Has anyone tried any 3rd party antennas or made their own from radioshack parts?

Thanks
eep

I believe the antenna in the base station is omni-directional. Mine is on the wall downstairs mostly for lack of horizontal shelf space. But it works fine.

Most 2.4GHz systems work better if their base stations are up high in relation to the user-like on top of a bookshelf. The antennas are omnidirectional, but since the antenna on your computer could be in the base or screen, or sticking out the side of a laptop, or stuck inside an iMac in an adapter, it usually helps to put the antenna at a slight diagonal to vertical (both front to back and sideways). This increases the chance that the signals will be effectively sent and received by the clients.
