This is more of a Windows networking question, but I'll ask it anyway.

I formatted a friend's computer and wanted to get access to the Internet for some driver updates. I unplugged a PC I have from the network and plugged that cable into my friend's computer. For some reason I went into Network Neighbourhood to see if things were working, and here I see the name of the computer I just unplugged. Never were the two machines plugged in at the same time because they both used the same network cable. Here's some more information, if it helps provide an answer:
A hub connected to:
-iMac DV with 10.2.6
-Windows 98 SE machine
-Windows XP machine/Friend's Windows 98 SE machine

Did the Windows 98 SE machine store a list of computer names that are on the network?

One of the machines on the network was functioning as the windows network master browser. It stores names of computers, and it refreshes every 15 or so mins. When a machine wants to know who's on the network, that's who tells it. That's probably what happened.
