Hi
I run an airport 80211b network in our home and recently had to replace our old 900 MHz phone. I was induced by the BestBuy salesman to buy a 5.8 GHz system in order to avoid interference between a 2.4 GHz and our wireless network.

The VTech 5.8GHz "spectrum spread digital" advertises that it is friendly to wireless networks but nonetheless its technical specicfications do indicate that

the Base transmits at 5.8 GHz but Receives at 2.4 GHz

The handset transmits at 2.4GHz but receives at 5.8 GHz

It also says it has 95 channels although I don't know about changing them or whatnot.

We are still trying to figure out if we like the phone itself. So far it has not seemed to alter our internet wirless network performance but maybe I have not challenged it properly. Does anyone else have insight into whether this dual-band phone (2.4 and 5.8 depending) will truly be wireless network friendly?

I have the vTech 5.8ghz phones and I have no problems using them with my AE. And with my 802.11b linksys router/ap I experienced no interference problems either. I would say that you should be o.k.
