Here I have just realized.... while my network is simple.. it must be one of the weirdest things ever.

Allow me to describe: I have DSL through PPPoE, anyway..

My g4 and DSL modem are connected to an ethernet switch, the G4 connects to the modem and then sends sharing out over the switch as well to any other computers connected.

As well.. I have an airport network which the g4 shares too.. basically the only piece of networking hardware I have is a cheap 10/100 switch I boguht for $20.. sure this config has it's bugs but I have total control over all the ports and it's MUCH easier to run a server.

Besides I run my g4 24/7, not to mention the wireless network is rock solid, rather decent signal, etc.

Anyone else here have a strange config? Name it!

How is that strange?

I need to pester my friend to complete his IP over string implementation. Yes, string. Now that would be weird

Powerbook on an 802.11g network, LinkSys wireless router, an ancient LaserWriter IIg printer, and some other Macs.

The PowerBook prints to the LaserWriter using AppleTalk, although by most accounts this is supposed to be impossible.

Ticking sound coming from a .pkg package? Don't let the .bom go off! Inspect it first with Pacifist. Macworld - five mice!

I used to have a wireless, ethernet, and localtalk hybrid network, but I got rid of the localtalk part.
Now my home network is actually two networks combined with a router, and I have another router, too. In addition, both routers are firewalls, one running default allow and the other default reject, and I have three switches, a WAP, and, well, not much else.
I needs to add a NIDS system to it, as well as a bridging firewall right behind the first router (or have both in one device). Of course, that costs a bit of cash, as I'm using dedicated devices now, instead of linux PCs.
