I'm having the strangest issue with my network setup at home. I have a PC running Windows XP Pro, a PowerMac G4 400MHz running Jag, a USR 2249 WAP and a hub connected to an SMC 10/100mbit switch. The hub connects my router and some older computers. My PowerBook G4 is connected to the LAN through AirPort (via the USR 2249), and it's running several servers (Apache, MySQL, Samba, ...). I can connect to these just fine from my PowerMac, but the PC is unable to connect to them. I can ping the PC from the PowerBook, but not the other way around (it simply times out). I can even mount the PC's shares on the PowerBook. None of these machines are running FireWalls. Anyone have any ideas?

The WAP is configured as an Access Point.

You're gonna have to post more specifics. A diagram or explanation of the ENTIRE network would help. Are you using any cross-over cables? Check the one to the PC. It should be straight-through.

It's like this:

I got a hub to which a PowerMac 4400 is connected acting as a router (192.168.141.1), a Performa 6320 (dunno the IP, doesn't matter), and a switch.

The switch connects my dad's Compaq Armada laptop (192.168.141.66), PowerMac G4 (192.168.141.2), my PC (192.168.141.22), and my WAP (192.168.141.132).

Then there's my PowerBook G4 with the AirPort card (192.168.141.12).

The PowerBook G4 is also connected to the PowerMac through IP over FireWire (the PowerMac is my file server, and I need the speed).

Everything works, except for connecting from the PC to the PowerBook. I can connect from every other computer to the PowerBook just fine (wether it be HTTP or SMB), and I can contact every PC from the PowerBook fine (even the PC, but not vice versa). TCP settings are correct on every machine.

All cables are fine (otherwise there'd be more broken than just this).

Is it possible the PC is choking on the IP over FW? Try plugging the PB into the switch, just to see if it gets recognized by the PC.

Ah, fixed it. I hope it sticks though... I disabled Windows XP's built-in QoS Packet Scheduler. Apparently the WAP doesn't like it that much, or it could just be a coincidence
And btw, the IP over FireWire is on a different subnet, and not connected to the PC at all, so that shouldn't have anything to do with it.

Interesting. I've never had problems with QoS on XP over wireless, and I'd have never thought it could cause a problem. Further, QoS works both ways, so I'm having trouble understanding how it kept you from seeing the Macs from the PC, but not from seeing the PC from the Macs. Strange indeed.
