hi, i recently bought the Netgear WG511 to get my IBM on "G" network at home. it's running Windows XP-Pro. It has no problem detecting the network, and i think i was able to join it, but i cannot browse the or anything else. My PB12' does not have such problem. Fyi, my set-up: ADSL Modem -> LinkSys Router (DHCP)-> a. PC XP Home b. PC Win2K c. AEBS (DHCP)-> c1. PB12" AE c2. IBM TP23 Netgear. For some reason it tries to assign a private IP address in my TP, providing an alternative IP to work. What am i doing wrong? Can anyone help?

In the settings of the Router, try setting it to "Share a single IP across the network". Also, in WinXP, if you go into Connections and click on your wireless connection, try clicking the "Repair" button & see if it'll reassign a working IP.

You've got two DHCP servers on your LAN. Disable DHCP serving on the AEBS.

Thanks Guys,
Aaaarnton: have tried your method to disable the DHCP on the AEBS, basically leaving the network tab unflagged. Still i cannot connect. Have also tried to set the IP addresses manually to no avail.
Assassyn: can't find "Share a single IP across the network" setting in my Linksys router, or are you referring to the AEBS? hmm maybe that's it...

The Linksys should be your DHCP server, which it sounds like it is currently. On the AEBS, uncheck the "Share a single IP address" (or similar) box. This will disable DHCP serving on the AEBS. Then go to each machine and select DHCP as the connection method. If this is already selected, change it to something else, apply the change and then change it back to DHCP and apply that. All the comps should be on the same subnet now. This means that their IPs will be very similar. The Linksys router will be something like 192.168.123.1. And each comp will have IPs like 192.168.123.2, 192.168.123.3, etc. If any of them have an IP that is different, like 10.0.1.2 (or ANYTHING other than 192.168.123.x), then that comp is not getting an IP from the DHCP server. Try this and see what IPs you get all around.
