I'm looking to purchase a wired DSL router to share DSL internet access with my iMac (OS 10.26) and a Dell system (Windows XP).

Can anyone recommend a specific DSL rounter/brand that works best with noth Mac and Windows systems. I know there are several companies (Netgear, D-Link, etc), however, I wasn't able to find which companies support both platsforms best.

Thank you,
Andrew

This Linksys BEFSR11 will do the job.

I have used it to share DSL (2 macs and one pc).
You configure the router using your browser.

I'm goona recommend to you the same thing I just suggested to someone else. You can get a Netgear wireless/wired router for $25 after rebates at Amazon.com. It has 4 ports + an internet port. And if you don't wanna use wireless, you can just leave it shut off. I use one and have set them up for a few other people. I tried 2 linksys routers first, and my uncle tried one as well. Of the 3 linksys routers, all three would not work and tech support couldn't help, until finally one guy told me to try another brand, he was right. It will work with any computer that connects using tcp/ip.

I can recommend the Netgear DG814, it was sooo easy to set up and if you feel the urge later to add wireless just plug in one of their access points, the 11b ones are really cheap. I have just set up a WG602 (11g) and it all works great.

I have installed both the Linksys wired and wireless routers in a number of SOHO locations and they work very well with both Macs and PCs. Setup is a snap with any browser (IE, Netscape, Safari, Omni etc.)

I have setup a couple of Netgear routers but have had some trouble in a mixed enviorment.
