Hi,
I have a PB G4 (DVI) w/ Airport Card and an Airport Extreme Base Station.
I set an Airport Network up - no problem.
I have Network prefs set to "Join most recently used available network" and "Remember Network Password".
BUT when my PB sleeps more more than a few minutes, I cannot re-establish a connection with the base station.
I am still JOINED to the network, but I get no reception until I unconnect the base station from the power supply, wait, and plug it back in.
This is an enormous pain in the ass.
What can I do?
Thanks

I'm having a similar problem. I've got broadband (cable) going into my AEBS, and a 17" Powerbook. After being asleep, the Powerbook will still find the network without any problem (full signal strength), but my internet connection is dead until I restart the basestation. Very frustrating.

Exactly the same problem here: latest Airport updates on Snow base station, iBook on 10.2.6, and having to reset the base station with the power cable every time the iBook wakes up.

Exactly the same thing happening here. (We've got a modemless AEBS & 5 of us share the connection.)
I've also noticed that the connection will suddenly stop working even though I haven't put my machine to sleep. Ive tried restarting the machine when this happens, and switching back and forth betwwen networks (our neighbours have one that I can join) but it doesn't help. Always have to unplug the AEBS and plug it back in.
Tom
(PS: If I try and use AirPort Admin Utility to reset it, it crashes & I have to use Force Quit)

I'm trying to assess AEBS vs ABS snow - and listening for WHICH one is having the internet-dropping problem.
I thought it was mostly an EXTREME problem. But some of you are saying not. A thread at Apple help showed the Apple dude and others sometimes suggesting updating, sometimes down-grading the Airport software. Sounds like Apple is struggling with what the problem is.
Do you think it's hardware or soft/firmware? More common with AEBS than ABS?

Same problem here. Never had a problem with regular airport base station. Experience with extreme has been horrible.
I am on the phone with Applecare as i write this. they are trying to tell me my sattelite dish is interfereing with airport.
I think they have no clue what the problem is.
Sorry to say neither do I.........

*bump*
Any progress on finding a solution to this problem? A friend is having the same problem with her 12" AlBook running 10.2.6.
I currently don't have all of the details of her setup, but have asked her to send them to me so I can pass them on here and see what the deal is.
What's interesting is that the 2 PCs in the house can see the A(E?)BS, but can't get on the Internet. I'm wondering if it's that long- short- thingie (what is that again? Some configuration in the WAP itself that you can toggle between.)
Thanks

Well, we use a couple ABS Graphite -- and have declined to update the firmware for a couple years. I don't know if that means I'm missing out on anything... except for Network dropping.
Since it ain't broke (yet) I'm not gonna be fixin 'em.
[ not that I don't wish I could move up to AEBS ]

I've seen a lot of traffic here on this issue. In the past I've chalked it up to the client not waking properly-it should realize it's been asleep and automatically attempt to reconnect. However, recently I've seen many people reply to these threads that they NEVER have trouble with connections after sleep.
If your card is set to "reconnect to last" network, it probably will figure things out...that's conjecture on my part, since I don't have more than one system to play with, and my access point is from Linksys, not Apple. I'd also make sure I had a fairly current version of the AirPort software as well, just in case this was one of those issues they don't quite mention as a fix in the release notes.
You could also log out of your account before putting the computer to sleep, and see if that has any different outcome.
