Trying to get a Sony Vaio with a wireless card onto a wireless network, via an Airport card in my G4.

in the Sharing panel on the G4 (OS X), the internet is shared, and the sharing works, as an iBook with card can hop on and be assigned a correct IP thru DHCP in 3 clicks and a few button pushes.

dead easy

but the PC on the other hand...

after converting the WEP password to hex and entering it, you can see the network to join, but it simply will not pick up a correct IP or see anything on the network.

if the WEP encrytion is turned on in XP then the signal stregth of the network is reported as dropping from excellent to low, when the laptop is next to the G4?!

any help?
understand your lives are rubbish
