Hi -- I am trying to connect my TiBook to my PowerMac G4 via AirPort, and I can't seem to log on to the PowerMac from the TiBook. I have turned on Personal File Sharing and AppleTalk on both computers, turnd off the firewall, and created a network with the PowerMac. Then I select "Connect to Server" on the TiBook. It sees the network (not surprising, since the two computers have generally been about 3' apart during these proceedings), and asks me to log in. I type in my user name and password (which are the same on both computers), and it sits for a while trying to authenticate, and then comes up with a screen saying "unknown user, bad password, or logon is not enabled" (or something like that.) I have obviously checked to make sure that I haven't mistyped the username or password, and I am not an unknown user. I tried enabling remote login, but that had no effect. I'm sure there's something obvious that I am doing wrong, but alas it is not obvious to me. If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.
-- I should probably add that both computers are running 10.2.6, and that I did get it to work once, but I can't remember what, if anything, I did differently that time.

I know you checked this, but check it again... Make sure File Sharing is enabled and the firewall is off on the G4. I've noticed those settings being less than sticky before. Other than that, restart? Try zapping PRAM, maybe a pref file got corrupted.

I checked it again, and AppleTalk is still active, Personal File Sharing is still on, and the Firewall is still off (both computers.) Just for the heck of it, I DiskWarriored the Power Mac, and am about to do so for the TiBook. Still no WiFi

To be honest, comp to comp networks aren't really my thing, but it seems like you should be connected. Just to clarify... On the G4, you created a network, correct? Then on the PB, did you ever actually join that network?

I did create a network on the G4. I'm not sure how I would join it on the TiBook: I did detect it, and tried to connect to a server on it, and at any rate I got as far as trying to authenticate. Thanks.

On the PB, pull down the Airport menu item (or go to Internet Connect, if not in the menu). Is your G4's network selected (checked)? If not, select it.

Meaning, it was already, when I couldn't connect. Also, while DiskWarrior found and fixed lots of problems with my new PB (?!), this didn't help either. While trying random things, I also repaired all my permissions; didn't help either.
