I am having all kinds of issues with my wireless router. First, downloads just seem to stop after about 600kb has been downloaded. And this is always for any source (web, ftp, etc). Also, just recently, it has completly just stopped doing anything (allowing any connections or acess to teh settings page) until you turn it off and back on. This is annoying.

I am hoping someone has some advice, as I would like to get this fixed if I can. I purchased it 3 months ago (things weren't bad at first), so I doubt I can return it at this point. If worse comes to worse, and I need to purcahse a new router, any suggestions? It needs to operate with 2 PCs and a Mac (the PC will be directly connected).

How is your BEFW11S4 configured? What kind of broadband connection are you using? Do you get exactly the same symptoms on both your PCs and your Macs?

I just posted this in another thread about the same router, but its relevant here, so:

A quick search on google turned up alot of complaints of the same type with this router. Most people ended up just returning the unit and getting a different model.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can read these threads, and try the various firmware updates (and downgrades) to see if any fix it for you.

15" Macbook Pro 1.83 2 GB RAM
Blackbook 13.3 Powerhouse 2 GB RAM
MacMini Dual Core 2 GB RAM (Sadly running Windows Most of the time)
Numerouse Workstations running windows and Linux. Sorry don't have the specs, I don't pay much attention to them anymore. :)

Sorry, I wasn't too specific. I have a DSL connection, and the router is setup for PPPoE. The symtoms ae for both the macs and the PCs (both wirelessly connected and wired in to the router).

Thanks, I will give the firmwares a try, as I think it might be too late for a return.

Firmware is pretty odd with this model; some people do fine with version"X" while others can't connect at all with it. If there was a common thread, you can bet that Linksys would have isolated it and done something about it. The Broadband Reports links are a good place to start to find out all about what seems to work and what doesn't for just about all Linksys equipment (as well as learning that there's almost as much religious fervor about this model versus that model as there is about "Mac vs. PC!").

While I didn't set my network up the way it is specifically to avoid this problem, I'm kind of glad I got a router first, then added an access point-multifunction network equipment seems to be getting really complicated lately, and that just begs for complicated, difficult to figure out problems.
