Just got our first AE. Here's what we did so far:

1. Plugged it into the wall socket
2. Plugged an ethernet cable into the LAN port. Ethernet cable is plugged into our network switches.
3. Turned Airport On in the Menu bar. I'm using a PowerBook 17". "No Airports in Range" message is displayed.
4. Ran the Airport Setup Utility and it cannot find the any Airport base stations.
5. Also tried the Airport Admin Utility. The base station shows up there but cannot configure it using the "public" password. Error communicating with Base Station.
6. The Airport ID is all zeroes...probably not a good thing. The other 2 ethernet addresses are present.
7. The base station is at 5.1.1 and my Mac is at 10.2.6 with 3.1.1 Airport software.

Any ideas? We don't even see the base station at all when Airport is turned on. Yes, I am an Airport newbie. Thanks for any help you can give me!
