I don't do it very often but sometimes i get crazy and want to transfer files to my desktop machine (which is hard-wired to the router), from my laptop (which is on wireless). It is SLOW ... sometimes the transfer just hangs for an hour and it will have only tranferred 100k.
My connection to the internet is through DSL and that is fast and fine, but between machines it is slow.
I've tried appletalk and IP addresses, and never could figure out how to get rendezvous to work. (Anyone want to explain that as a bonus answer?) Still, the transfers i always have to just abort.
I have a DSL modem going to the Linksys router. A printer (turned off) and B+W G4 tower are connected via ethernet to the router and the laptop (TiBook 500) is on wireless with an internal airport card.
If anyone has found a solution or can help with further configuration i will draw a picture of you and pin it above my monitor in effigy. Thanks.
