I am having trouble with my base station all of a sudden. I have 5.1.1 firmware and have had it since it bacame available from Apple. I am set us as follows: Cable modem into base. Epson PS820 into base and a PBG4 and iBook. Until recently, say 2 weeks at most, I have been able to surf and print with impunity. All of a sudden the printer will not print and I continue to get communication errors with the printer. If I delete the printer in print center and re add i can continue with the printing. Today, I cant even connect and configure the base station from either computer. I get a cant read the configuration of base error. Am I screwed and need to buy a new base???

Somebody answer the man! Please!

I've got a similar problem - even though the Airport Extreme Base Station works and I can use the net like before I *can't* configure it because I get a message in the Airport Admin Utility that claims "An error occurred while reading the configuration." and "The AirPort admin utility was unable to read the condiguration of the selected base station".

I've reset it both soft and hard using the directions here:

http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107451

Nothing works.

The AirPort Admin Utility Error

AirPort Setup Assistant (even if the AirPort is *indeed* Apple AirPort and set to DHCP.

Help!
I could take Sean Connery in a fight... I could definitely take him.

You may need to take that base station for repairs. There may be a corruption in the firmware.

One idea: are you perhaps trying to configure the Base Station through the wirless card? If so you should try and do it through a network cable!

You need to configure the Airport with a AirportCard. that is the only way to talk to the base station.

No not true. I routinely use an ethernet cable to configure AirPort base stations. I find it very unstable to use the wireless card to communicate. The cable always works.
