I'm trying to transfer files to my TiBook (w/ Airport) from my WinXP PC (w/ a D-Link WiFi card) but it's coming across really slow. It took about 2-3 minutes just to download 70kb worth of bookmarks! I want to download 20Gb of movies and 15 Gb of MP3s, so this sloooow speed is going to drive me insane. Even scrolling through the files on the share is slow. Finder stops and gives me the spinning beach ball icon every so often as a peruse the directories.
The two machines are part of a home network that runs on a D-Link wireless router and connects to the internet via cable modem. Both machines have satisfactory (read: pretty fast) speeds on the net, so I don't think it's a problem with either machine specifically, but (I'm guessing here) a problem between how they connect to each other. This is a brand new TiBook I got yesterday (my first Mac!) so I'm pretty unfamiliar with the world of Mac networking.
Any guesses as to why my transfer speed is so slow?
Thanks,
Mke
