Hi.

I have a win-laptop with a folder that I have shared.
On the laptop, I use the build-in firewall. I have opened up port 135, because I was told that was the port Samba, SMB, uses.

Then I use 'Connect to server' from Finder, and without the firewall I can access the shared folder. But when it's on - I get a -36 Error, or the system crashes...

Any ideas how to share files, not turning the firewall off ?

Thankes in advance,

Jens Peter

IIRC the port you want open is 139 and not 135.

EDIT: you can check this yourself by going to your firewall preferences and checking the port number for Windows file sharing. (I'm not in front of my OS X machine right now so I can't do this myself).

I think port 135 is used by Microsoft Exchange for remote access. Samba should be using 139.
