This has probably been dealt with before, but I can not find any threads.
I have just set up 3 G4,s in OSX for a colleague who has a a network via ethernet router.
The shared printer will not show up on any of the G4,s
I have set them to printer sharing and I have no problems connecting the G4,s etc.
The printer central cannot see the printer even in advanced mode.
Any ideas ??
I am new to network so it is probably just a simple trick I need

are all the computers on the same side of the router (on the LAN)? if not, the router is probably blocking the sharing. open up port 631.. i think that should do it.
if they are all on the LAN side of the router, then i'm not sure what's wrong.. haven't had trouble with it that way myself.

Assuming all the G4's can 'ping' each other...

Assuming all are running OS X...

Assuming the printers are connected to the USB ports of one of the G4's...

You only need to turn on Printer Sharing on the G4(s) with the printers attached...

Make sure you can print from the G4 with the printers attached...

Then go to one of the other G4s and open Print Center. You should see the printers listed in pink... you might need to give it a bit for the shared printers to show up.

Do you get that far?

Also make sure printer sharing is allowed through OS x's firewall in the Sharing pref pane in System Preferences. In fact, you may want to disable ALL the firewalls while trouble-shooting.
