Hi,

I have airport reception on my PB, but I can't browse the net.

I'd get the error message "server not found" whenever I try to load a page.

I am using a third party router with 128 encryption - if that helps.

Can anyone help me?

We can probably help you-it sounds like a configuration problem more than anything else-but you'll have to tell us a lot more about your setup.

What brand and model of wireless router do you have? Did you do anything to the default configuration of the router, or have you left it stock? Have you tried disabling WEP on both the router and the PowerBook to see if you can connect then? What happens when you plug your PowerBook into the router with a cable?

I have a basic idea about what may be your problem, but i need to know what you've done so far...

So what turned out to be your problem? Other people can really benefit from your experience, but only if you share it.

I have a hunch you had an issue with the WEP key entry in your AirPort software. Am I right?

**warning, the following response is from me, a "non-computery" person, lol**

Yep, initially it was the WEP, but that was resolved and I was able to get reception (note: you cannot use the password as the "password". You HAVE to use the 23 character hexidecimal (I think taht's what it's called. I don't remember now ) as your password).

Then to be able to start browsing, I *had* to manually punch in the IP address for airport.

Pretty easy once you figure out how to do it, lol, but man is it frustrating when you don't know!
