I work at a school and would like to use WAP with some iBooks until our wireless network goes up in the spring. Our school uses manual ip addresses for each computer. Do I need to hijack some address until the computers get one's of their own from IT or can i just give one to the WAP and have it give out IP addresses?

Thanks,

jg

You can manage by having the WAP act as a DHCP server, but it will need an address for itself. Maybe it would be better to get addresses assigned for your computers. You could explain that you're going to be experimenting with coverage, finding areas where signals drop off, and so on. It would even be accurate if you share your findings with the IT people, and it would make them feel that you're trying to help them.
