I have a new Al15" PB and was experiencing wireless problems with my Airport extreme card and Belkin router. On startup and wakeup, the PB could not find the BS. After a number of attempts at changing configurations, etc, I checked the airport card itself. It was not fully inserted into its connector. After reinserting the card, all problems were eliminated.

Is there a place that i can read about that will give me the proper instructions of doing this? Or should i just bring it in somewhere. I've been having problems where it takes a couple restarts for my powerbook to "catch" the network. I thought it was normal. So i should just check my airport card? Any thing i should watch out for? I'm a switcher by the way, and i've been a mac user for only 3 weeks.

If you live close enough to take it in somewhere and don't feel comfortable doing it yourself you could do so, however, the instructions that came with your PB should be fairly clear and easy to follow, theres probably a copy on the apple support website as well.

You might want to install a copy of the free MacStumbler:
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14746
That'll give you a lot more info on what signal(s) and interference your airport card is picking up - a lot more info that the OS's Network bar.
