How does one mount a network share or computer with persistence so it will remount upon reboot or wake from sleep? There don't appear to be any gui hooks to do so, but I would assume the gui makes calls to mount_xxx when it does the mount initially. Question is, if it does use mount_xxx is there a gui out there that will set the persistence settings or can one only do it from the commandline? I'm thinking about switching an office over to OS X from Winblowz, but alot of the users have laptops and aren't the most computer savvey people on the planet so it would be a deterrant if they had to manually re-mount everything.

Hmm, there has to be an easier way to do that. Hopefully the login items thing will work better with Panther. If Apple wants to compete with MS, they'll have to do a better job of making shares automount, IMO. In Windows, you map the drive and it will reconnect until you manually disconnect it (sorry to compare, but that's your compitition, stevie! ). OS X needs something like that, or at least a program to do it. It's got to be simple for the user to do. If the user has to learn how to do applescript, that's lame...

I don't see how it could be much easier then mounting once and dragging the volume to Startup Items. In so far as SMB shares there isn't much more you can do that I have found. What kind of problems is this presenting?

*edit* didn't read closely enough the first time around.
