I just bought a PB 800 to replace my very old pentium 233 PC. I have been using a DP 450 desktop for 3 years. I want to get a bunch of files off the the PC before I throw it out the window. I have a LAN card in it, can I connect it to my Mac with a crossover cable to transfer the data over to the mac? If so how do I go about doing this? I am very new to the whole networking idea...so please be gentle. Thanks.

Start here for cabling info.

Follow links at end to other articles as necessary for software setup.

Thanks a bunch to Joel for making a
DO-OR-DIE situation so simple (you told your boss that macs can easily talk to PC's?).

Your PB 800 may or may not require a cross-over cable. Try a straight-through first.
