Hey all-

I am about to start some home networking, and was looking for recs as to where people have bought cat5 cables and plugs, etc online. I dont need a ton of stuff or anything fancy, just good quality cables, reasonable prices -

ebay is a great place if you don't need a lot of stuff and can wait for auction to end. I have seen a great number of networking gear for a lot less then most online sites.

you mentioned cables AND plugs....I'm assuming you're making your own? I got some really good cables (Plenum type 7 - the guy said they were not office 'CAT' certified at the time) from a office construction once... basically the remainder of a floors runs. You'll still have to get the crimp kit, but that'll still save you a bundle. Another place you can go is these business auctions where they're selling all their equipment for like pennies on the dollar.

Or, you can do what I used to do. Take it from work :-)... ok maybe you shouldn't.

They do some decent kits of cable and the crimper etc.
