I have a older G3 running 10.2.6 as a server. From within the university network, a PC with XP Pro can log into the server and access files. But access is denied from outside the university network. The network administrators say the ports were blocked due to secruity concerns. However, the server can be accessed from outside using a mac - so the AFP protocol gets through and the SMB protocol does not. So is there a (cheap) way to use AFP from a XP? PCMacLAN might work, but it seems too pricey (list = $189).
