I am trying to mount a shared folder on a Mankrake Linux machine onto my Powerbook G4 using Samba 2.27. The powerbook is connected to a Linksys router via Airport (not extreme, it's 802.11b). The Linux machine is plugged directly into the router. Both machines can ping each other and the router successfully. There are 2 shares set up on the Linux machine using Samba server, and I have successfully connected to the shares a couple of times, but now when I try to connect to the shares from the Mac, I don't see anything at all. In the finder, when I click on Network, I see WORKGROUP and MDKGROUP folders, which is normal. But when I click into the MDKGROUP folder, where the shares should be, I see nothing at all. When I try the "connect to server" option in the finder, I get a message that says "there was no response from the server". The only mounted volume in /Volumes is my local powerbook hard drive. I have tried rebooting the powerbook, rebooting the Linux machine, restarting the Samba server. I am stuck. Can someone please help?
TIA
Dan
