Well I am pretty sure that if i put a second network card into my workstation (i am a desktop support admin) and i share the internet connection that i should be able to get online with my mac. But my questions are.

1)what setting do i specify to let my mac see this shared internet connection (from a windows xp machine)

2)what trouble if any can this setup cause to my pc network. Is it possible for someone to detect the second machine? or will all web requests seem as if they are coming from just my desktop?

Could this setup potentially cause any problems?

I am going to have this brougth up at a committe meeting on friday and it will be discussed, i am just curious if they will have a reason for not allowing me or if they will do it under principle.

If it was a PC notebook i would not have asked i would have probably jsut connected it to a spare ethernet jack, but the privately written VPN/firewall client is not available for mac so I would have to go thru a "fake hub" (ie: my workstation with 2 NICS) in order to have this work. I want to know that if I went ahead and tested this, could my setup draw attention to me in any way or cause my company's network any problems.
