Does anybody know if the etherent port on an ibook 800 (or any other recent mac) is capable of automatically switching pinouts? Basically so there is no need to use a crossover cable to connect two machines without a hub/switch.

I vaguely remember reading something to that effect a year or so ago-

maybe I'm crazy but my switches have the feature for their uplink ports.
