Belkin 802.11g wireless gateway access point router
vaio laptop wifi to router; running win 2000
dual 1.25 g4 ehternet to router; running 10.3.1
hp psc 2200 series usb to mac

I'd like to be able to print from the laptop wirelessly but have had trouble setting this up. I have windows file sharing and printer sharing turned on in the sys prefs, but my problem is in how to configure the pc. If anyone can guide me in doing this it would be great.

Thanks

As long as the printer is shared by the Mac, all you have to do is "install" the printer on the Vaio. You'll go to "Settings," then "Printers," and select the "Add New Printer" wizard. When it asks, tell the wizard that you're adding a networked printer. You may have to browse your network (in the wizard) to locate the Mac, and thus the printer, but once you find it, the rest is automatic and you'll do fine.

Why does your Vaio run Windows 2000? 2000 is slow, clunky, and much too much like Windows 98-YUCK! XP is a much better alternative, and it seems to cooperate with OS X better, too.

2 things:
1. win2k does much better than XP with less memory and it's much faster.
2. you may want to give the G4 a static IP so the printer won't "move" when/if the dhcp lease expires.
