Please help! I have a 12" PB 867 Mhz running on Panther (recently upgraded from Jaguar). I can connect fine via my WiFi network to my iBook as well to 2 Windows machines running XP. Funny thing is, while I have no problems with the iBook folders, many of the shared folders on the Windows machines appeared to be empty even though they are not! I can access those folders with no problems from the iBook running 10.2.8, but when I browse the same folders with my PB, the folders are empty. I notice that one particular folder was OK, in that I could browse its contents, but all other shared folders are not.

I went to the discussion site at the Apple website and found some threads from people with the same problems, but with no solution in sight.

I think the networking in Panther is flaky, to say the least. I never had problems with Jaguar. Any suggestions?

Apple needs to address the networking issue in Panther it seems. Most things work fine but Windows networking just plain sucks. It's flaky and many things are hit or miss. My only suggestion is to connect via FTP to get at those files-

I just realized that there is a sticky thread on the networking issue in the OSX forum, and it does look like windows networking is really a problem in Panther.

I am a newbie to Macs, and rely on the simple networking style of Windows, so I thought that Panther was a godsend as it was heavily advertised as supporting windows-like networking. Yes, it is windows-like alright, except that I can't use it!
