aha, i am not the only one thinking that these things should drop. Both netgear and linksys are already at the 100 mark (twice the price of AEBS), why doesnt apple lower their prices for the holidays? i already one AEBS, and would love to buy another one but not at these prices. are any rumors floating around?

Don't you mean that Netgear and Linksys 802.11g products are half the price of the AEBS? (And that's the version without a modem...)

Apple doesn't seem to do seasonal pricing. I think it's because they want to keep the "upscale" image, like Nieman-Marcus, Jaguar, and other such vendors. I also think it hurts their sales very badly. If Apple, as a company, want's to go beyond the small market percentage they have, and incidentally expand the love of the Mac to far more people, they need to be a lot less proud of their products-pricewise, anyway. I'd love to have my next college-bound friend or relative get a PowerBook for classes, but even with Apple financing, it's more cost effective for them to get a Dell laptop.
